JD, exactly two months before our “Reveling in the Rise of Women” speakers series Julie Gordon White wrote, “The event sound fantastic and thanks for thinking of me. I'm available, but due to my extensive travel schedule, I would need to do a fireside chat (Jennifer would be a great interviewer!) versus solo talk.” Thank you for setting us up for success! So fun that we will now integrate a fireside chat into our “Celebrating the Rise of Africa” event @ Unity: SF on May 31st +++!
Fantastic advice! I did a couple of "fireside chats" at the XPANSE 2024 meeting last November and really enjoyed that format for exploring ideas and questions about topics.
The title of this made me smile as my first interaction with you was chatting by a fireside at TEDActive... Sebastians TEDTalk is still one of my favorites and I couldn't agree more with your tips for a great fireside chat. There is nothing worse than someone interviewing you who isn't listening to the conversation but is just trying to ask all the questions on their notecards.. everyone feels awkward.
These are also really useful tips for hosting guests on podcasts. Thanks JD.
Love this piece JD!

Very insightful! I’ll put these to use in my next chats. Thank you JD.
